I have suffered with TN since 2008 and had multiple procedures and have been on multiple meds!! I have been a runner in the past but, the past years have destroyed that dream for me!! I heard of a race to support TN research and decided this is the time to put my shoes back on and hit the pavement!! The training is brutal and it takes more effort for me to fight the side effect of meds and the effects the wind and cold has on TN. But, I am taking the road less traveled by TN patients and would love it if some of my TN friends would come run the race with me.
It is called RACE TO SAVE FACE. July 13 in Dover,Ohio. My profile picture is the symbol of hope given to those of us with TN. There is hope and we have to hold on to that tight sometimes!! You can get race details by visiting the facial pain research page on line!! Hope to see all of you there!!
Lisa, fantastic to something to raise awareness and money for TN. Is there a way we can sponsor you?
I often think If won a huge amount on the lottery I would donate a large sum to TN 1 and 2 research, but would not know which organisation to give it to! It would be a nice puzzle to have!
I was unable to open your link x
HOPE is our anchor, indeed :-)
Can you direct those of us out of the state of Ohio, how to sponsor you in this race? So glad that you are begin YOU, regardless of the pain. Yesterday we had a rare sunny, warm day up here in the Pacific Northwest (followed by a predicted 7 days of rain!!). My children and I walked a couple of miles regardless of the cool wind beating my face and ear. Happily, parts of the nerve is paralyzed w/botox and the other parts calmed down once the endorphins kicked in and worked. Today, I wake with no pain and am looking forward to another workout (indoors, of course :-)
I am very proud of you, Lisa. It is very encouraging to me to hear of stories of people who move past pain towards their heart's desire. Please keep posting on your progress in training and then after the race. Many prayers for you, dear :-)
Thanks for your interest in supporting TN research. It is amazing how much research is already going on that most of us have no idea of. It put a spark in my step. And I realized I could help. I will find out exactly how to handle sponsors that are around the world!!! I will keep everyone posted…Thanks for your support!!
This is exciting! I would LOVE to see this one go national. I would do this near me for sure.
Great stuff Lisa, would join you if several thousand miles did not separate us! We are all so proud of you !
It is so wonderful to hear of more awareness of TN. So many of us suffer in silence knowing no one else can understand what we are going through. Thank you for pushing yourself through your pain to make this more known. I wish I could do more, but we pray and support you one hundred percent. Good for you! Keep the faith.
I would love to sponsor someone in the race also. Please let us know how we can do that. I believe the more funding for research, the more awareness of this disorder and the more hope for a cure.

This is a facebook page link to the race. They will also be auctioning a quilt for xtra funding. I have commented on it to see if we can sponsor a runner or buy tickets for the quilt.
I wish they had one of these in the UK
I’ve just taken on a challenge that I am going to run a marathon every other month for the rest of the year to raise money for a local hospice and make a wish foundation, but I would love to do something for TN research!!!
This is amazing..bless the heart of whoever got this started and whoever is taking part in it.
How can you do this when your pain is increased? Does it have a limit? I was a lifelong runner until hit with TN. I have to avoid wind or cold or any type of climate changes that in the blink of an eye can cause awful pain. Is it really possible to “run through” your pain?
Running through the pain is NOT easy because wind and cold are huge triggers for me too. Sometimes I look like an Eskimo out there with my entire face covered except a small spot so I can see. I would have never thought this was possible either but, the mind is a strong tool!! I do all I can physically to protect myself in this cold climate…it is 35 degrees this morning…and I rely on my mind, my strong will and exercise released endorphins to carry me the rest of the way… It is possible!! And it actually has given me more to fight for!! Come join me in the run!! U can do it too!!
Lisa. You are so cute! I will remember your words roday when I’m out walking. I hate to run, always have, but walking 2 miles a day is very possible when it’s not raining. When there is rain, the eliptical works well. Blessings to you, eskimo Friend!

Lynda, at the event they will also have a 2 mile walk!! U should come and do that!!
Nice! A two-mile walk I can do easily :-) If this event was in the Pacific Northwest, I'd be there. It's just too far away for me to be part of, sorry Lisa :-(
I will be cheering for you, though. For today's training and your time in the event…let me know if you can hear me, okay?
Many blessings to you!
HI EVERYONE, I just wanted to let everyone know I am still training hard for the race. It has been a battle in so many ways. The weather here in Ohio has been cold and windy, so I still look like an Eskimo or a ninja out there on the trail. I can’t wait to run with shorts and a t-shirt on!! I continue to battle everyday with TN and fight pain, I wait for the best part of my day and literally make a run for it!! So many days the TN demon tells me I can’t do the race and I am a fool for trying…but, I am determined to beat the odds!! I am so excited for the day which is now 10 weeks away!! I hope some of you have decided to come run with me!!
Well done Lisa, keep it up for the big day, and thank you for bringing recognition to a condition that people have either never heard off,or they they think Neuralgia means having a headache. If only !
I was a runner & glad to hear it is to raise $ for research. I had no idea there was research going on & is comforting. Would like to sponsor you or donate $.
Good luck & have fun !
