4 months post-op MVD update

My energy is finally starting to pick up!!
I’ve actually been able to walk for 20 minutes at a time now ( finally ) so this is super encouraging!
I keep using the mantra from the Tortoise and the Hare story, “slow and steady wins the race”.
I’m hoping to lose the extra 25lbs I put on this past year & 1/2 and being able to walk more than 10 min gives me hope at last that some aspects of my life may very well return to “normal”… That’s huge for me!
I was a very active person prior to this.

Most importantly I continue to have no TN pain.
I have occasionally felt the beginnings of TN pain which scares the *%#£ out of me!!! But thankfully it doesn’t amount to anything.
I hate how afraid I am when that happens… I understand my fear.
I don’t think I fully comprehended how traumatic the last 2 years were for me.
So the emotional stuff is still being worked through…

I’m so grateful for today.
Mimi xx

I wish you the best. I took longer to recover from my long ago MVD than the usual, I took it slow, worried about bring on pain and exactly like you, if I felt twinges or the slightest feeling that it hadn't been fixed i got scared.

My MVD helped with the electrical shock pain, but unfortunately not the rest. Hope your pain is all gone and you stay well!

So glad to hear your energy is improving. I am encouraged by the slow and steady approach. I hear you re: traumatic effects. Would make a good PhD thesis…you probably know enough to start one! I’m always impressed by you knowledge and commitment to help here on the forum. I truly believe your patience will pay off. Take it easy…really, really easy.

So happy for u I too get scared ay any like twinge in my mouth so far no tn pain for me it has a little over 3 weeks and i have presuch resumedmy everyday activities i ask Dr if u was doing to much and he said not if i am feeling good enough to do it!

Question did the bottom of your incision ever feel swollen or like a bump glad u r well

Hi Ayre, yes, the bottom of my incision after a few weeks, I think somewhere in weeks 3-6 developed like a large pimple type feeling, I saw my doctor and they lanced it and gave me an antibiotic type cream to apply. It went away within a week. Doctor said probably an ingrown hair from my hair growing back in.

Thanks for the replies, Mimi

Mimi, Happy for you!! I bet it feels so good to be able to go walking, helps lift the spirits too, for me anyway. That’s awesome that you don’t have pain anymore!

Mimi you should write a book…for all of us…it’s not like you would have too much competition with TN books!

Ayer…I glad you are getting your life back!

Mimi I think it my be scare tissue forming near the end of the incision going to keep an eye on it and if it seems to get worse i will call dr it is just sore i hope i did not over do it I have been feeling so great I have been doing a lot of stuff!! Going to slow it down and rest more!!!

Glad you are feeling better and on the mend Mimi, so glad those warning signs don't come to anything.
