Hi everyone, just wondered if any of you have had a 2nd MVD or do you know of anyone that has? if so how succesful was it? saw my neurosurgeon yesterday and he is suggesting another as my TN has returned.
Hi Tracey, my name is Donna. I've had 2 MVDs. My first one was a failure from the first day. The second one was a success for 4 and a half years. Then it came back, very depressing. My neurosurgeon said he would do a third if I wanted him to and that I would have about a 50/50 chance of success. My advice is to you to make sure you find a good experienced surgeon who knows what he's doing. How long did the first surgery work for you? I think it would be worth it if he's a good surgeon, even if you only had pain relief for a few years it would be worth it. Those 4 and a half years without pain were glorious years, but the day it came back was the most depressing day of my life. Then again, you may have better success than I did, everyone is different. Sometimes pain makes the decision for us. I wish you well.
