1000mg. of fish oil, liquid B12 and Phosphatitdyl serine (100mg.) at bedtime. I take 100mg of tegretol a day, at night, for 4 years, but now some pain is returning. Anyone heard of this?

Has anyone heard of taking these supplements? I have had TN for 4 years, take 100mg of Tegretol a day and wondered if I could add these instead of increasing my dosage of Tegretol.

All I know is that fish oil and B12 help repair the nerve's myelin. I have taken B12 sporadically and am making an effort to take it daily, along with fish oil and eating salmon at least weekly. It certainly doesn't hurt to try to help the body heal itself. Meds just treat the symptoms. And I am so grateful we have them! You are on a very low dose of Tegretol now... lucky you that this has worked for 4 years! The book, Striking Back has some good information on "complementary medicine," including diet and supplements. If you haven't already, check it out. Best of luck to you!

TN is progressive… But do what you can … B12 and lower your stress…you might need a tweak of tegretol.

I see you have TN1

Have you considered MVD ??

Tegretol is nasty, but you have lots of room to increase the dose without harm most likely. The supplements at least should do no harm.Good luck!

No, I wouldn't even consider something that invasive unless my TN1 gets a lot worse. Thankfully, I have been able to keep it

pretty much under control with Tegretol, but am going to investigate a holistic approach also. I have tried acupuncture and it made it worse. That is all I have tried. Thanks for the reply. Emma's meme
