Word Retrieval

I went looking for my car keys the other day.....Why they were right where I left them---- IN the car on the Driver's seat!!!! Forgot to pick them up....

LOL

I volunteer at a wildlife center. Got into the car and was on my way. I noticed something didn't quite "feel" right. I forgot my shoes--was driving in my socks.

I just had an MVD and it is great to have my words back!! I have noticed, though, that I developed the habit of ending sentences with the phrase “and all that,” basically meaning there was more I wanted to say, but it’s not worth the effort. Feel free to adopt this habit if it helps! LOL

Oh I needed this. Taking myself way too seriously today. Laughed out loud.

My word retrieval sucks lemons after just two months on Trileptal. I've always been bad about verbally flipping or mixing parts of what I'm trying to say, but it's far worse these days when I can even get out what I'm trying to say. Far too often at work I've been having to use my new explanation of "I cannot brain today. I have the dumb."

Oh Marymo ...that is too funny..... but I guess we gotta laugh..I am always losing my shoes.... LOL

Here's a good one!

My friend just shared with me that while in church a friend was venting about her hubby and while we were trying

to encourage her by sharing his positive traits I said that her hubby was " Delicious!" Thank God she really

wasn't listening to us. I don't even remember saying that about him! I'm married and I don't see her husband

that way AT ALL! LOL!

Blessed – that IS a good one!

Bad, I’m always “forgetting” words or not knowing the right word for what I want to say.

It’s great to read all your messages and replies, I actually laughed out loud (that’s not been for a while) nice to have some funny letters for a change…
Ditto to all you’ve said, thought it was only me? the times I ask my dear husband to pass me “the thingy” or when he goes out shopping to pick me up “a thingy” I actually think by now he knows what I’m talking about…
He’s now taking to finishing my sentences, scarey???
I used to be a social worker, so my job involved talking more or less constantly, now I can’t string sentences together, that’s TN for you!!!
Hugs to you all, Anne

During last serious episode side effects took around 3 months of my life, I remember nearly nothing. Slept through it. Lack of words, literally :-)

Was scared my brain wouldn't go back to normal function at all. To me TN is 96% talking fear, what others say doesn't matter. Guys, don't pay attention, they have no idea.

This has made life as a student difficult beyond belief. Nothing like writing a paper and trying to ask my dad for the word for "that thing when you, you know, have to go to that place" or something like that. It's better now that I only take gabapentin 300 mg q 12 hrs, instead of q 8 hours, but still.

Most people just stare at me and I'm sure they think I'm stupid, high, or the like. I try to plan out what I'm going to say ahead of time, but that doesn't mean I'll remember it :)

i was on gabapentin 600 mg, 2 pills 4 times a day past two years ... zaps came back a week ago so gabapentin was increased to 2 1/2 pills twice a day and 2 pills twice a day ... those of you on these types of meds know about loss of memory/words ... it's not working so i came on to look up other variations of meds to try to get this back under control ... i don't even know how or what to say to members of this group ... i can relate but am at a loss of words ... happy holidays everyone

Bump

I am strugging with this and it is really effecting my job. I rely on words and communication and it is like it has been ripped from me.

I have brain dead and brain deader days - the guys I work with are great and just finish my sentences for me when I need it. My kids are into science and got me some gameboy mind games a few years ago and put me onto luminosity - so at least I can now quantify how brain dead I am on off days. Its really cool. You can actually see it. It really helps though if you haven't tried them.

i feel like I’m constantly playing charades - you know - the thing that is- no like- yea - and starts with…
