I have an impacted wisdom tooth on the bottom left. Today I noticed that I'm starting to form an abscess over it and on top of that, the right side of my face is hurting like no other.
Can mouth problems trigger TN pain?
I just can't afford dental insurance or the operation to get them removed right now. I'm worried that I'm not only going to have to suffer with mouth pain, but my TN as well.
It's set off mine before, and so has something as simple as getting a small filling.
I currently have a shattered root (previous root canal) in one of my molars that has a huge abcess in the bone. but it isn't causing any problems. It's been like that for over a year, and my current flare up is on the other side.
The right and left side of your mouth are unrelated in terms of the trigeminal nerves. The left nerve provides sensation to the left side of your face, the same with the right. However... if the pain on your left side is causing you to make funny faces, it might be enough to irritate the nerve on the right side...
Now that I've babbled on forever and provided nothing useful, have you looked into dental schools in your area? If you can put up with having a novice dentist rummaging around in your mouth, it might be a really cheap way to get it removed. A friend of our family had all of his teeth pulled for around $250 a few years ago.
I must agree with Cleo, untreated dental infection was what started my ATN, please seek help (are there perhaps any hospitals or medical emergencies in your area that would treat you for small feel or for free?). Hope you'll feel better soon!
