I keep reading about a certain type of pillow to use right after surgery...... but no post mentions exactly what type it is!
I have a travel pillow --- and my regular contour pillow (bad neck)

I have had two MVD's and I wasn't told a specific type of pillow. I did bring my own pillow actually 2 with me to the hospital. I just used my regular fluffy pillows. They were nice to have positioned on the side of my head/face since you are very sore from how they position you during surgery. It also helps to have something of yours in the hospital to, to make you feel comfortable. Hope this helps!

I've been talking to patients for years, but I have yet to see any general recommendation on pillows. My instinct -- and it is no more than that -- is that you'd probably want "soft" rather than "firm", if the surgical scar is going to come down on it.
