also want to know how painful is surgery how long is healing
MVD stands for microvascular decompression surgery. If you go to the groups tab, you should find an MVD group. There is a description of the procedure on the first page, and people have shared their experiences there. I had MVD on January 25, and although it was not easy, it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Best of luck to you.
I agree with everything Christine said. There are many members on here that have had MVD surgery. You could speak to each of them and get their experiences. Good luck!
Please only find a surgeon that has done hundreds of MVDs at minimum --- good luck!!!!
And if you go ahead, see if you can stay in hospital a week, and then continue resting for a few weeks afterwards. I had mine 6 weeks ago and only just went back to work yesterday. (I work in human resources). I am exhausted still after 6 hours at work! But I am painfree and otherwise feeling Great!
My whole story can be read on the groups tab- MVD group -- just put in search kcdancerkc
I had mine 6 months ago, the surgery is not painful, mine was 5 1/2 hours long, but when I woke up there was no pain, the doctors in the hospital manage the pain well, and I was sent home with plenty of painkillers to manage the few days after my surgery. I really didnt have incision pain, but ever since the surgery, it itches like hell.
Feel free to message me any questions and I will try to help...its no where near as scary as you make it out to be, and trust me, I made it out to be a torture chamber, lol
