I had another episode… I guess it really is TN. I finally saw a neurologist and he diagnosed it. I also have bruxism?*spelling? Which makes my attacks worse. The doctor sent me for MRIs because he suspects MS. I am 23. And now on to of everything I’m afraid I will lose my job because of this. I feel like I’m too young, this all can’t really be happening to me. I’m on oxycarbazapine. But I’m still in quite a lot of pain sometimes. I just don’t understand how there is not a cure yet… I want to change the world. People need to know what this is. People like us need help. I know that I’m really struggling because stress is a trigger and I have always had a problem with anxiety… any tips on getting your stress down?
Average age is over 30 so don’t worry yet about MS… for grinding of teeth get mouth guard
From dentist…see if any doctor will give you lidocaine for face … Have them call it in.
Maybe small dose of anxiety med… Stress makes more pain… Keep posting!
sorry it is back-- looks like you had nearly a year break!! I think that is the crazy thing about this-- you feel so normal between attacks that you can convince yourself it is not really happening...
hopefully the meds work fast and you get another long remission...
as for the stress-- when you are in the middle of it--it is hard not to panic!! I think deep breathing, praying, walks in the woods and snuggling with my dog helped me through the first attack--painfree for now but who knows...
also i tried to keep up with as many activities as I could-- eventhough I just wanted to curl up in a ball in bed...
hope you feel better soon!
I just got diagnosed a week ago!!
Hi There,
about the MRI this is pretty common test for people with TN as they have to rule out anything else going on so try not to worry too much about this. About the job don't know what you work at but there is legislation in place to prevent discrimination, speak to your union rep if you have one. Ask your about counselling re stress problems.Sometimes it helps.
hope your pain settles soon
Ann
Heres hoping your MRI was like mine. Uneventful. I know how frustraiting this stuff is.
I don''t have a high level of pain when I have an episode. Just enough to drive me nuts.
I usually wait till it gets pretty bad before I take anything and now its a pill every one to four days.
Try not to worry, hopefully they will have your results soon.
Wow sweetie you have a lot to think about…I also have TN, am on Lyrica and my nerve pain is under control (for the time being), I had numerous MRI’s and my newest Neurologist actually had one done of my neck, to check for MS as well.
