Hi all
Twice since the pain first started I have had what sounds like migraine 'auras' to people who have them, but can find no reference to this being part of TN. I get twinkly semicircles in my peripheral vision, like looking through the bottom of a bevelled glass, with fuzziness in my central vision. This isn't due to medication as the first occurrence was before I began to take any, the day before I was diagnosed. Anyone else had a similar thing?
HI Samantha,
I know about these twinkly spots you're talking about, I have them too. There are three reasons times I experience these, and I call them stars - they look to me just like it does in a cartoon when someone gets hit over the head and stars swirl around the head:
1. When I'm very close to passing out either from standing up too quickly or from extreme pain
2. When I'm going to have serious stomach problems within the next 8 hrs (mainly diarrhea)
3. When I'm suffering from a severe migraine. Another visual disturbance I experience with migraines is that everything becomes blurred and starts to swirl in circles, all blending together like water going down a drain. Twice I've lost my vision completely but temporarily during a migraine.
These visual occurrences started before I got TN, just as you said. Sometimes it's accompanied by vertigo and nausea. Hope this helps you, take good care.
If you put keywords in the search box at the top of the page such as "migraine" and "aura" you will see many discussions from the past where many members have reported similar. You could have TN with Migraine, many do, sorry.
