Update on Mom's MVD

Hello,

Its been one week and one day since my mother's MVD surgery. She is doing extremely well. She still has some hearing loss in her right ear but she says her ear keeps popping and is optimistic that her hearing will return. The terrible rash she had from the Tegretol has cleared up alot since the doctor took her off it. She did not seem to have any withdrawals from stopping the drug cold turkey either. She is only on 25 mg of Topiramate now. She is still getting some mild pressure/painlike headaches in her forehead ( I hope that is normal) but Tylenol has been the only pain relief she has requested. She is so much more clear headed and can carry on a conversation now unlike before. She is much stronger on her feet and no longer needs assistance to get around. I keep telling her she needs to take it slow though and not to over due it. She is having problems with sleep though. She slept so much the first couple of days after her surgery and now she cant sleep much at all. She sees her neurosurgeon on March 11 for her first follow up. She wants him to give her a referral to see a new neurologist. She was not happy with him or his office staff at all. I have been her sole caregiver through this painful nightmare and I am physically and mentally exhausted. I am so relieved she is responding well and I pray the worst is behind us. Thank you so much for listening! God Bless!
