Hi,
I tried Tramadol for my TN pain as I was having side effects from Percocet, but it didn’t do anything for the pain. I wish I could say it helped.
It does help me, some of the time. My pain it horrible in the morning (ATN) so I take two Tramadol and two Excedrin. This gets me through until mid-day when I usually have to take a Percocet. Sometimes even the Percocet doesn't help. I am glad to have some other drug to take each day that allows me to limit my narcotic use. I average between 4-6 Tramadol per day and 1-2 Percocet per day. It sucks.
Hi, I take Tramadol/Paracetamol combination at times and it does help me. The odd thing is, it did not do much when I was prescribed this combination right after my diagnosis, but more than two years since that time it does seem to control my pain to a degree (decrease by maybe 50-70%, which is enough for me so that I am able to function at work etc.). Since I don't take it regulararly, I don't experience many side-effects, drowsiness being the worst of them, and maybe a headache if I take other meds aside Tramadol. In my country it is considered a narcotic.
I take Tramadol for ATN and Glossopharyngeal and TMJ. I use a topical preparation on left side of face that has a steroid, muscle relaxant, and Tramadol in it. I only use the cream when my cheek is quite painful. It’s very thick, so I mix it with a bit of hand cream. I also take oral Tramadol as needed. Mine are 50mg and I can cut in half and do feel some relief. The drawback on the oral for me, is constipation and I eat tons of fibre and supplements, so I end up taking less. I hope this helps.
I wanted to let you in on how I control constipation due to the narcotics. My doctor has me taking 2-4 "Senna S" pills per day. These pills are completely safe and non-habit forming. It took a few weeks for me to get some sort of regularity, even with these pills, but now I feel almost normal again.

Talked to my neurologist this am and he is going to try me on tramadol and see if it helps. Thanks for all the input! :)

I was actually prescribed Tramadol by my GP today for my most recent tooth extraction.
I collected them today, but I cant bring myself to take them even though I am in excruciating pain, I'm not sure whats worst, the pain or the side-effects from the meds.
Honestly, I have never had a single side effect from Tramadol. Maybe is because my body is so used to being drugged up. A sad thought. The Percocet I take still makes me tired and slow-brained.

I was just prescribed Tramadol. It took two at the same time to lower the pain to where I could be livable again. The side effects weren't all that bad. I slept, which is better than not sleeping and being in conctant pain. I will say here that I chased those two with a screw driver. I honestly think that might have been what put me over the edge as far as pain goes. Anyway, I don't recomend the screw driver but I think the pills are ok so far
