Has anyone tried or thought about it? Just wondering im 30…and my husband was the one who had asked me but i know disability is such a pain…so any thoughts or any one that has been through with it…hope everyone is having a good day:)
Early in my TN journey my husband also suggested this. It seemed like I would just not be able to do my job while on Carbamazapine but after three weeks I was able to go back to work. We have kept the thought on the back burner for now. Perhaps if down the road when my meds are upped and my clarity is again an issue we will explore this thought more seriously. All the best as you explore going on disability.
I have trouble working and taking tegretol. Any tricks? Controlled release? Taking at certain times of day?
Kim im on gabapentin…i have yet to have to go down the route of taking tegretol…and i hope that it doesnt go to that level…sorry hun that im of no help wishing you many pain free days
believe there is a section on this page to disability, but not sure
Thank you albee
i have been on disability for 2 years. it took me a year for them to decide if i qualified. it is not a fun process to go through, especially when you are suffering with TN. i have worked since i was 12 years old, full time since out of highschool and im 48. you pay into CPP all these years and they give you a hard time when you need it the most. you have to jump through hoops, but if you have a legitimate claim with the doctors backing you up, they will eventually relent. i had to go through one appeal, but then when it finally went through they have not bothered me since. believe me i would much rather be working then going through this hell.
Jacqueline, did you apply on your own or did you need someone to help with the application?
I’ve just started thinking about applying, would love to know how you decided to go ahead and any tips you might have.
Like you I’d rather work, but it’s not looking good…
Thanks, Mimi
