Tegretol side effects

Hi,

Has any tegretol users noticed reduced sleep, itchy, constipation, dizziness and rashes? The teg is doing ok holding a good portion of the pain, but the side effects really seem to suck. New to meds and never had to tak ANY before this. HELP!

Hi! I also have greatly reduced sleep on Tegretol and because I'm a chronic insomniac that was a side effect I really could have done without! The pharmacist warned me about the dizziness when I first started taking them but that didn't last too long. Google the side effects, at least that may put your mind at ease. Good luck!

Hi, I was on Tegretol for a very short time due to the itching and rash, I was told to stop taking it as I was having an allergic reaction!

You should call your Dr. asap! Being able to stop the meds all together depends on how long you have been on them, so talk to a professional first.

Good luck,

Cheryl

Thanks all, since this post my neurologist is indeed concerned of an allergic reaction. I am being monitored as my dosage is being increased from 400 mg to 900 mg. As my dosage has increased slowly I am having grerater side effects such as - increased confusion, stomach issues - one evening my wife told me I was making bizarre statements in my sleep an could barely make it to the bedroom due to my stumbling.

I fear not being on the tegetrol, it has reduced the pain a decent amount where I still want to live. Without it, I don't know if I could take it. I know there are other options, but will be effective? If the tegetrol doesn't stop all the pain and makes me feel this way, what will the other medications do? Even the thought of being in the hospital as they change my meds I know I will have to endure at least a small amount of time where the pain will be at it's highest - can I take it?

Really freaked out
