I went to a neurosurgeon after being on medication for TN for over a year. The neurosurgeon said my MRI shows a compression on the trigeminal nerve. My CAT scan also showed polyps in my sinus area in addition to what was seen on the MRI. One polyp is pressing against the trigeminal nerve and another is right above the area of my upper mouth where I usually feel pain. The neurosurgeon recommended I see the ENT who confirmed this and recommended that my sinuses be drained prior to MVD in case there is any chance that my pain is coming from the polyps in my sinuses. I am having this surgery in two weeks and if that fails, I having MVD about 1-2 months later. Does anyone have any recommendations for pain medication that could help get me through until then.
I'm no a doctor, but I wish I could recommend something for any pain that you may have.
However, "Best of Luck" with your up-coming procedure, Brian. You'll be fine. Our doctors, their support staffs and medical protocols/procedures in the USA, are the best in the world. That will soon change.
