Was that you hol insurance?? Or sick pay?? I left a post about hol insurane to and your answer could be for either. I have herd of people on TNUK having hol insurance denied.

I don't holiday much but my partner likes to.

With ref to disabilty act...All I can see is that disabilitys are judged...somehow.Some one gave me a human right phone no.which i might get a chance to call tomorrow.I'm still looking into this as obviously i worry about work.

HI there,

im aware this is quite an old feed but i have just recently joined this site. I am currently at work in the middle of a horrendous flare up - i have no choice but to be here. I am covered by DDA after referral to occupational health but my team leader doesnt have a clue. I am under the impression that because he cant see what is wrong with me I am being punished for it. I am having trouble moving my right arm today and in an office where i use a computer all day this is hardly helpful. I find myself crying in the toilets on a daily basis - all because a so called 'team mate' has told my boss that i cant be in as much pain as i make out and that im 'at it'. sick pay policies differ depending on your employer. i know in my job i get 26 weeks before dropping to SSP. i find it quite lonely at work as i use my hot water bottle in the middle of summer and get nothing but strange looks from everyone around me - there is no point in explaining as they just dont get it!!!

Hi Jennifer,

Much sympathy to you for the awful time you are describing. Since I last posted I have had an MVD in May 2012. Am just going back to work after post op recovery but only part time now. I have discovered the vast majority of Doctors and Nurses are not clued up about this condition which is progressive & because you look okay people just dont understand. If you are suffering like this ask to see your OH Practitioner again if necessary & see your GP, maybe you need your meds changing or dose increasing, or maybe you need to be referred to a Neurologist. OH Dept maybe can advise/educate your team leader about the excruciating pain associated with this condition so you can get the support you need at work. Try to ignore work mates who have no idea, your team leader is the one who needs to be able to give you the support. Try to stay positive & dont let this take over your life cos it can if you let it. There is treatment available to relieve the bad attacks. Good Luck!
