How du I knw if I’m depressed,is there any1 here’s suffering frm depression bcoz of TN.
Hi, I was (not any longer but the more pain I get the closer to being in that place again).
The symptoms? For me it was extreme tiredness, no interest in anything, I could sleep a whole day and I was barely able to take the rubbish out or go out to buy groceries. I wasn't able to go to work and I didn't care if I lost my job due to that. For a month I only spent time in either my bed or on the sofa. It was an extremely hard task to do the dishes or hoover the floors.
There had been warning signs before all this happend but I didn't see them, because all I could concentrate on at the time was my pain and how to get rid off it. Depression is nothing like the sad feeling which lingers on for a few days and then goes. You'll probably know it when it hits you, although some people are depressed without realizing it (if it's milder you're probably still able to carry on as usual and appear sort of normal but I think the main tell tale sign is that depressed people lose interest in what's going on around them, and are generally tired - they stop going out, have no energy for their hobbies etc.).
Depression in Chronic Pain patients is many times present.
Mine lasted for months and months - even after a successful operation.
Slept all I could -- didn't play with the dogs as I should, quit returning calls from my friends..... I got on Welbutrin -- it's the only antidepressant that does not cause weight gain nor mess with you sexual drive.
Depression can be a biological thing that runs in families -- It can be brought on temporarily like tough things in life.
Go see your doctor and they will assess you.
Keep Posting !!!

I'm very glad you are looking into this professionally--Make sure they don't put you off 2 or 3 weeks!
Millions and Milllions
around the world have had to deal with depression at one time or another in their lives.... A couple of good resources while you wait - are here:

I saw your other posting - and you don't need a neurologist unless you need to try new meds perhaps--and really your regular doctor can do that
- or need a consult for surgery - and that all depends on your insurance if you have it.
Can you see if you can get some lidocaine cream or lidocaine patche called in for you? Instant pain relief for many -- and I and many others have been able to lower their meds a bit with topical on the face relief.... Then maybe eventually less depressed feelings!
