Hang in there.
Wish I had more words of wisdom
IT CAN'T HURT TO TRY THEM FOR TYPE II -- PUT LIDOCAINE IN THE SEARCH BOX I'VE DONE SEVERAL POSTINGS AND STARTED SOME THREADS ABOUT "TOPICAL" MEDS --- PUT TOPICAL IN SEARCH BOX TOO!

I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I went to the ER and they literally kicked me out after giving me a shot! I knew that the relief from the shot was just temporary! I wanted to be admitted or something similar. I am lucky enough to have a doctor brother who called the doctor who told the ER not to admit me and set him straight in doctor terms. A tip I learned: Urgent Care on my insurance is the same $$ as a doctor but you don't need an appointment and you can get a shot from them (or Lidocaine). I also found out that I could go back as needed in the next 5 days after my visit for FREE!! If I hadn't been in the hospital and then on crazy pain meds until my Neurotin kicked in I would have been there EVERY DAY!! Hope you get the pain management you need! Call around to different places! I saw a Neurologist the day after I was told to go to one, because I called 30+ different places. Good luck!
I was diag. in May of this year. Looking back, I have probably had this for at least a year. I just kept thinking it was a tooth problem...I went to a Dr. Robert Goodman in NYC..Loved him, but my ins won't cover in that state. I am going to a Neurosurgeon tomorrow.....I am just ready to try the MVD....I know there are side effects to surgery, but the side effects to the meds are bad too and since I have to work the memory issues are driving me nuts....Praying for you...I don't know where you live, but I will let you know how my dr visit goes tomorrow...Ps. 16:8
I have type 1 and 2. I use Lidocaine creme. It seems to help me more with the Tn2 pain, throbbing. But I can't wait too long to use it after it starts or it doesn't help. So as soon as the throbbing starts, I use it. (unfortunately, right now the throbbing never stops!) It doesn't always take it away completely, but it helps lessen the pain. I do have to really be generous with it and put on a lot. I hope this helps.
I have found that if I think not "one day at a time" but, when I am really bad, I have to take it one hour at a time, sometimes one minute at a time. "Okay, I can get through this minute and I will deal with the next one after that."
My heart hurts for you as I know exactly how you are feeling. I have been there so many times before and probably will be there again. But I do what is in front of me right now, whether that is housework or taking care of my kids, or sometimes it is just slowing my breathing down during a bad shock. Then I do the next thing. I can't think too far ahead. I don't know if any of this makes sense. But it helps me and I hope it helps you!
Blessings to you!!
I'm going nuts from the memory and multi-tasking issues from the medication as well. I don't see my neurologist until January again but then I will push for another MRI. If they could see something from that, I would push for an MVD. I DO NOT want to live on medication the rest of my life. I have only dealt with this since Novement (medicated since then) and I've had symptoms since May of last year which have steadily gotten worse. I do have some better days like right now when I can back off on meds a little but I can never go without. I switched to Trileptal in April which is better than Tegretol but I'm still really sick of memory issues. It is even frustrating my supervisor now and she is generally very understanding. So now I know it is pretty bad! I am so afraid I won't be able to continue my job.
Praying for you too! Hang in there!!
