I'm trying to prepare in case I need to go into the ER in the future. I did print out the attending physician advisory but what I can't find is what actually works as in meds.
I've gathered that vicodin and percocet don't work very well. (From experience I can tell you they haven't worked for me). But what can I tell an ER doc what might work?
Our Face Pain Info tab on he menus above provides access to a cluster of over 20 articles on diagnosis and treatment of face pain. Most of the medications used in the disorder are summarized in one of the articles. You can't "tell" an ER doc very much except that you have a diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia and you're dealing with severe breakthrough pain that Vicodin and Percocet don't seem to help much. If you go too far in naming opioid meds, you may be written off as a drug seeker or malingerer. This is a decision you may need to let a doctor make.
Yeah, I thought that might be the case. Last time I was at the endodontist I got "Oh it's you" from one of the assistants. I really wanted to smack her. This was before I was diagnosed with TN and percocet was not doing a thing. Yeah, I come in here and pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars to get root canals because I just want the drugs. I think they would be much cheaper on the street. Not that I would know where to get them. Not that they would help.
