im new on here, and need some advice, I am post op by 2 yrs from having the gamma knife for trigeminal neuralgia and also had the pulsed radio frequency; two yrs later, I am now diswcovering im having problems with my tongue,24/7 a day my left side and half of tongue is numb,sensations of pins and needles as well as a scalding sensation and bitterr taste, I have also because of the gamma knife been diagnosed with scintillating scotoma; I am really frightened, what are the treatments involved ,please help
After my second Cyberknife I developed the numbness in my tongue along with no taste on my left side and TN1 symptoms which I never had before second treatment. It is very strong on left side of my mouth/lips and inside my mouth. I have never heard of that but I do experience flickering of seeing moving silver lines. I don’t know if this is what you are talking about but you really made me think.
hi donna s, I seriously urge you to go back to your consultant then,because the same issues you are experiencing are of scintillating scotoma with your eyesight and also a condition called acoustic neuroma with your mouth; I suggest you read up on these conditions and also suggest tests for them, doubtedly either one may actually be what you may have,but I wouldn't leave it ,I am being referred back to my neurologist to test for these also,im very frightened,but it needs checking, I will keep you posted as well as id like u to keep in touch also please as we could support each other.
I am emigrating to usa and so I want this sorted so I know where to go from with health care next year. good luck
