I had my mvd on July 17 with Dr. Casey. First of all he is amazing and truly a blessing from God. He found 2 compressions on the 5th nerve also one that was near by so he put material by it for the future So far no tn pain he told me husband that the nerve was flat and as soon as he separated the vessel and the nerve the nerve bounced back up as it should be!!! I think the worst part of this experience has been the nausea ugh i felt sick from the moment i woke up until saturday the meds they gave me for nausea made me worse of course i have been sore did not want to get out of bed the day after the surgery but Dr Casey was like what you going to do lay they and get pneumonia or an infections you are strong the sooner you get up and get around the better and I love him for that. Once out of icu I got to take a shower get my bandage off and try to eat the eating part was not happening. I would not even take any strong pain meds because I was afraid it would make me fell more sick so i ask for extra strength Tylenol I got to come home friday which was a rough ride I only live about 2 hours from trenton so I dont know how you that travel out of stay travel home..lol I made my husband do about 60 on the highway all the way home! Saturday I started feeling better started to eat more my soreness is getting better I am learnng how it sleep comfortably if there is such a thing...lol I will get some pain in my ear my ear does feel full and the top of ear is a little numb my head is sore a little pressure and a headach am am weak and tired but able to get up out of bed for a while have visitors i even showered by myself yesterday I just pray that everyday will make me stronger my family has been great! Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers! God Bless you
So good to hear you are doing well. Just make sure you rest for a few weeks, even when you feel like you could do more, don’t for a while longer. I’m 6 months post mvd and a week and half ago was looking at books in a shop with my head on the side and STILL felt like my brain was going to fall through my eyeballs! So, it takes longer than we might think to heal the brain! I wish you all the best!!!
Glad to hear it went well. Take care of yourself - you will feel a little bit better every day but remember patience. I know I was all ready for my MVD on the 11th and KNEW I had to be patient. Well by Friday the 19th I overdid it and felt horrible that Saturday. I learned the minute I feel tired I have to rest and I shouldn't bend over much. I haven't had that happen again.
So happy for you Andria!!
Take good care of you.
My 9 staples were removed at 10 days, my surgeon said 7-10 days, but others have bigger incisions that need more time to heal,it’s different for everyone.
Huge (( hugs )), Mimi
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! You are on your way to being the true person you are & getting your life back. Thank God for Dr. Casey and others like him. I can't believe that I am nearly 10 months postop MVD and the time has flown. I continue to feel great and never had any difficulties postop. I had all absorbable sutures so didn't have to make a trip up to Baltimore to see Dr.Carson @ Hopkins until my 2 month follow up visit. I am one happy woman! This past week I went diving for lobster with my friends(I live in the Florida Keys) and had such fun & caught several lobster---ate some last night, as a matter of fact. Again, I am happy for you & know that you will continue your progress.
So happy for you Andria! I just saw Dr. Casey for my first time this morning (drove from Indianapolis). I agree with you that he is a blessing and I think that everywhere I've been on this journey has led me to him. I am scheduling to have my MVD by Dr. Casey in October. Please keep in touch on here. Wishing you a speedy recovery. In the meantime relax and let others do for you :).
