Point me in the right direction please!

So i have had TN for 5 years. i was recently laid off work and have unemployment…i was laid off the day after asking for my health benefits that i was promised in a contract when i first started working there 6 months ago. my TN is worse than ever and i went to a neurologist in philly that says i need mvd bc they meds i have been on are all failing now. so i need insurance, i am 24 and single my family can help me if i have to pay out of pocket insurance but im wondering if anyome has any suggestions. i am in pain 24/7 and having to take percocet to get me thru…i have to have this surgery so i can get my life back and function and look for work.
i also saw ppl got disability for this disease. if anyone knows where i might be able to get some help please let me know! thank you!

I am just taking a guess here. If you have a signed contract that include health coverage I would see a lawyer or contact the labor department.

Do you have a surgeon picked out? Have you seen our list here that we like?

I'm with Mandie on this one: if your employment contract is at all an issue, then contact a lawyer. You might need the services of one who specializes in private as well as SSI disability. As preparation, read the article on "Coping With Crisis" under our Face Pain Info menu tab. It will give you some pointers on qualification for disability. Likewise, if you were involuntarily laid off, you should be eligible for extension of your health insurance under COBRA. It's expensive, but if you may be facing MVD surgery, I'd say highly necessary.
