I would like to hear from people that have gotten the Peripheral nerve stimulator for ATN or type 2 pain. Is there devise that you can first try to see if it is going to work for you before you go thru with the implants?
yes, can try it first I think
Put PNS in the search box!
I am pretty sure you would have to undergo a trial with the PNS first. This is done under sedation, and the wires are placed just under the skin, along the trigeminal nerve. The wires are attached to cords, which attaches to an external battery and controller. It is not very invasive, but it is minor surgery. The trial is done to be sure you will benefit from the stimulator before the permanent implant. I had my trial implant on a Friday, and the permanent the following Wednesday. I have had mine since August, and am very happy with it. My TN2 pain had failed to resolve after MVD, so my neurosurgeon suggested the PNS. There are not many doctors who use the PNS for trigeminal neuralgia, my NS is one of the few. His name is Dr. Jeffrey Brown in NY. Please ask me any questions you might have, I am happy to help.
Best of luck
Christine
