Went to a pain management training session last week (for another, as yet undiagnosed condition, not tn). They were very keen to stress that, while all pain is perceived by the brain, THE BRAIN IS NOT THE MIND. I found that very helpful - no one had ever said it quite so clearly before. It’s the brain that feels the pain, but that definitely doesn’t mean it’s all in our minds.
We all know it's not in our minds, they should rath train the dc's! :-) Can you tell us a little about what the pain management training entailed? That sounds like a good thing to do.
Thankyou I am going to write that down! It's hard to be strong minded at times, when we feel like our sanity is being questioned..and remain insistent that this pain we are feeling is very real. Especially when many doctors have only heard of TN back in their training when all the information wasn't as available as there is known now. Yes Tineline we should send them for retraining! My own Neuro admitted that the major hospitals here are not experienced with TN. How can this change I am not sure.
I'm interested to know of your experiences with Pain Management also? Do you have individual or group sessions?
