Pain From Medication?

Has anyone had Oxcarbazepine cause cheek pain? I’m trying for the second time to increase my dosage to 1-1/2 pills 2X/day. This morning I had temple pain (pressure) both sides 1-1/2 hours after the pills and now it is more in my cheekbones. It feels just like the TN burning/pressure and I am praying it doesn’t go into my cheeks, where it caused excruciating pain before. So I don’t know if its a result of increasing the medicine or just TN pain that decided to rear its ugly head. I was better yesterday. Never know what is going to show up. When I see a neurologist I’m going to ask if maybe I could try valium or something like that (prozac) to calm my nerves down. If I can get really relaxed its not so bad. Yesterday I had pain in my upper cheeks and while I was sitting at my desk doing stuff I literally felt the nerves relax in my right cheek - like a waterfall. I’m a very high-strung, emotional person and I am sure this contributes. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Sue-
Unfortunatly, it sounds like the pain is affecting other nerves. I hope the neurologist is able to help you manage your pain. You are not alone, I have pain in my ears, jaw, throat, temple, cheek, forehead, lip and teeth. I thought I was crazy when it started spreading. I have had 4MVD’s and there were compressions in all the areas of the nerves.
