Even though I am trying to my hardest to remain positive, the universe seems to have other plans for my day! ha! Oh, dear. I am so sorry, but I must vent because, well, I have no one else to talk to.
In an attempt to save my family money I have been trying to get us new insurance. My husband is self employeed so we spent quite a bit of money a year for insurance. Like $14000.00 a year with high deductibles. I found better insurance for 1/2 of that a year. Woohoo!! Of course, I was denied because (drum roll please)...I have TN. Ugh... So, we will still save some money by at least switching my husband and kids, but I feel pretty horrible that I couldn't be switched and will not be able to save as much money because of my TN.
In about a month my husband and I will be heading to Panama City, Panama for 5 days. (In addition to his many jobs, he is a farmer and earned the trip by purchasing seed). Sounds like a dream, huh? Then why do I keep having panic attacks and have asked everyone to stop talking about the trip? haha! I'm excited to get to spend some alone time with the hubs. We only have 2 date nights a year because we just do most things with the kids. I am so scared of flying!! I haven't been on a play in almost 20 years. My mom and dad are staying with the kids so I feel much better about leaving the kids. I am worried that flying might cause a really bad TN episode. I am worried that while I am gone I will have a really bad TN episode.
I know...I can't let TN define me. However, I do worry about the unknown. Being so far away from my dr. scares me a bit. Thankfully, I will see him right before my trip and will be able to talk to him about all of this. And this insurance thing has really bothered me ever since I received the letter stating DENIED! Everything will be fine...I just needed to get it all of my chest...
Thanks for allowing me to rant. Now I can get back to my day! haha!!
Stinky insurance, I’m sorry you were denied. Okay I’m a total dunce, but. I thought insurance companies could no longer denie people with preconditions, is this wrong? I truly dislike the health insurance industry. At the very lest you are able to save with the rest of your family on insurance and that is a great thing. Try to concentrate on that.
As for flying, I hate flying too. Ever seen the Simpson episode were Marge goes nuts because she hates fly; running up and down the aisle screaming let me off. May whole being feels like that. It takes a lot for me to just stay and my seat. See if you can take something for your nervousness for the flight when you see your doctor. I know that is a long flight/s to there. I’m sure you will do great and I will be thinking for you to have a pain free trip. Try to come up with a plan on what to do if you have an attack while on your trip. Then start concerntrating on the fun you get to have on your trip, try not to think to much on the wha if’s of TN. It will make you crazy. Make sure to go over your plan/s for an attack with your doctor. But I’m sure you will have a great time.
I hope your day is going better ((((hugs)))) to you and feel free too vent away to us. That is what we are here for.
PS. Maybe if you don’t already get some lidocaine patches or cream. Maybe this can help while on the plan or on your trip.
Thanks, Kari...I appreciate it! The pre-existing condition thing starts in January of 2014. I asked the same question.
I have been picturing myself freaking out on the plane...like the chic in Bridesmaids. I am hoping to get something to help with the nervousness...maybe a bottle of vodka. haha!! Hopefully my dr. will give me something. I am pretty excited to go...I have started researching Panama City and it looks pretty exciting. This will be a good thing.
Your welcome. I’m sure you will be okay on the plane. I find its the worse for me on the tar mat wait for take off and waiting to get off the plane. Maybe practice some mediation will help. Pretend your on the plane and focus on relaxing your self. I know before all the new rules and regulations you could easily bring your own alcohol on the flight. But now you might want to get some of those little bitty bottles just for the flight. So they are within the certain amount of liquid you can bring in your carry on, but check with the airlines about the amount of liquid you can pack for your carry on and alcohol. You don’t want to be a bombed and denied to board the flight either because your considered intoxicated either.
Ugh, I just looked up the insurance thing and saw that. Well you have one more year and then you can look again for insurance without the fear of being denied. Maybe you will be able to find even better insurance then for your family at that time:)
The lidocaine patches and creams need a prescription. Your doctor can even call a prescription for you to the pharmacy. In fact you might to try it before your trip and see how it works for you.
South America looks and sounds exciting to me. Glad to hear you are starting to get excited for this trip. Any ideas on some fun activities you think you might to check out yet?
You shouldn’t have any TN issues while flying…I’ve never experienced any, I’ve flown many times.
As for being nervous…I work for an airline, and I often recommend people who are nervous to get something like a prescription for Ativan to help calm the nerves, also most aircraft have tvs built into the seatback in front of you, so bring some headphones and get lost in some tv shows or a movie to distract you?!
How exciting Panama! I have a friend who moved there last year, he works for the UN and loves it. It’s very beautiful! AND no kids? Well honeymoon time for you both!! ENJOY, the change of scenery and time with your hubby!
Forget the rest!
(( hugs )) Mimi
Ativan. I will have to look in to that. I am pretty excited about the trip. It will be good for me and the hubs. I am NEVER without the kids so this will be an adjustment, but it will be good for all of us. The kids need a break from me too! haha!
I have no idea about activities. I need to look into that. It looks like they have lots to do. I am kind of excited to just learn more about the culture. I better get to researching it!
