Occipital Nerve Block

So, I seen the neurologist again today. Angiogram was of course negative. But the head pain and TN attacks still are not completely controlled.

So, she thinks in addition to the TN and chiari malformation that I also have occipital nerve damage and has suggested an injection called an occipital nerve block.

She also added Neurontin (1200mg/day) to my already long list of medication and increased the oxycodone to 40mg/day from 20mg.

Has anyone here had this occipital nerve block procedure? What can I expect? Were you able to achieve some relief, even if temporary??

I had an occipital nerve block in July. It was a very simple procedure. They mark the place at the base of the skull and put the injection in. I was very nervous but it did not hurt. Afterwards I felt great. The pain was gone. It only lasted about a month for me. My pain has returned. I have been told they can do another one. They can last for a day or months. It just depends on the person. If you have any other questions, let me know. Good luck with everything!!
