So my new neurologist thought it would be worth a try doing an occipital block. The hope was to lessen the dizziness and maybe even the triggers of the TN. He injected lidocaine into both sides. If I find it gives me relief for the next few hours I will go back next week and have the same thing done with lidocaine and a steriod. Has anyone done this and what have your results been?
I've had it done twice had some relief the first time for a short period of time. The next time nothing. Two months ago I had a botox injection in my upper back and just below the base of the skull (Mind you, I have occipital and geniculate neuralgia too) but it has given me relief! I had the unfortunate side-effect of very poor muscle control in my neck for 4-5 weeks and had to wear a cervical collar; but now that period has passed and I am happy with the results. I don't know how long it will last we are hoping for 6-9 months, we will see - one day at a time;but for today I have the least amount of pain I have had in 4 years, and that alone makes me happy!
