Nuvigil

I was so elated to hear from my doctor that Nuvigil would help counteract the crummy side effects of my Gabapentin. Unfortunately, after doing research on my own it doesn’t interact well w/ Seasonique. I am more afraid of my migraines than of TN. I know it sounds odd since every moment of the day can be captured by TN. I don’t sleep at night, & they wanted to give me Ambien. No thanks, I’m on enough medication. I keep thinking if I didn’t have to work, & the economy wasn’t so painful I would get better. I truly believe for me stress is causing this artery to press on my nerve. I just know I will wake up one day, & have no pain. That is what I hope for all of us-to be pain free & rid of medicine.

Hi Julie,
I would consider a sleep medication. I believe that helps my TN. Being tired is a definite trigger for me. And if you have been diagnosed with an artery pressing on the nerve, then I would consult a neurosurgeon. As far as stress, I think it may play a part. Even though I did have a major compression, I also had some significant stress in my life.

Liz,

Thank you so much. I have learned so much from all of you. It alleviates a lot of my worries. I was waiting for my doctor to introduce me to his MVD success patients, but hasn’t contacted me back. I think it will be something I’ll do down the line. Have a great weekend.

I am home today as the TN stabbing was so bad last night. I had to call in to work with an ear ache as no one understands TN and how it wipes you out. I take daily pain meds and clonazepam for years and it seems to help until something like the wind, dental work, old dust - anything that triggers the TN. I take 4 advil when the stabbing starts and stay on it every 3 -4 hours sometimes for 2 days until the stabbing stops. All this makes my body so tired and my mind so sad. My mom must of had TN 40 years ago as a child I remember that she was always in bed and in pain, my Grandma had stabbing pains also. Some of my sisters know of it and have had it but not as often as I do.

Madison,
I’m so sorry that it got that bad. I hope you’re feeling better today. It does take a huge toll on your body. I’m feeling that way at work, I just fight w/ myself to go to work. It affects the entire body, physically & mentally.
Do you like taking clozaepam? I was just started on it for the extreme sensory loss I’m having. I stared to get a strange pain down the left side of my head, not a headache. I’m jazzed that shingles was ruled out. However, my eye & nose are under attack from the nerves. I had a huge fight w/ a doctor’s office, no one listens. Even my neurologist & his Phys. Assistant got snooty. I thought, hey I’m paying you for treatment. They hadn’t called me back in 2 days, I had to drive to their office crying to get help. That’s my example of how no one understands what we’re all going through. The doctor’s forget their humanity. Dr. Philip O’Carroll & Sally DeCastro Tillsen in Newport Beach, I’m disappointed in you both.
