New to the group and wondering

Hi

I am new to the group and not yet diagnosed with TN yet although doctors say it could be A-typical TN. So my question to you all is this -- can TN only effect my mouth/teeth areas?

I am so frustrated at this point and can't afford to keep going to dentists, neurologists, ent specialists, etc. I just need some answers and solutions!!

Thanks so much for any insight on my question.

Hi and welcome to the group! I have Bi-lateral ( both left and right sides) atypical TN. I have had pain in my teeth, mouth, scalp, ear, eye, and face. TN is not just in your teeth and mouth. The Trigeminal nerve has three different branches, and any or all of them can be involved.from what I understand, atypical TN is characterized by having constant burning, boring pain along with the electric shock type flashes of pain.
I can relate to,your frustration with doctors, as I went through the same thing. My best advice to you is to try to find a neurologist who is familiar with TN, as not all of them are. I found mine by going to hospital website, going through their list of neurologists, and just calling them. It can be hard to get a diagnosis, but hopefully you will find the right doctor soon.
Best of luck!
Christine

I have had pains in my throat, eye and ears along with the bottom lip also.Sorry :(
