Hi all my insurance had change so I had to find all new doctors and do a do over. I brought my neuro records to my new neurologist and he looked at them and the MRI that I had along with some other tests and said they were all the wrong test. In April I have a bunch of new ones to do. I know what the MRI’s consist of but one of them he just told me it was not invasive. Hate that! I was wondering if someone here in the group has had the test and can explain. I need to know because it is kind of a long drive for me. I could drive myself from the MRI but this other one I don’t have a clue about.
here are the test I will have done.
MRI Crevical Spine WWO Contrast
L>R
MRI Brain WWO Contrast
L>R
Here is the one that I need some understanding to.
Evoked Potential Test (AEP)
Auditory Brainstem Evoked Potential,
Trigeminal Sep , Somatsens, Trunk, Head and ECog
Thanks Diana
Hello Julie, re an AEP
I had one of these a long time back now, so it may have changed a little. An AEP stands for Auditory Evoked Potential. It checks the nerve between your ears & brain. They attach small disk things to your head, you hear a clicking noise & the response by your brain is recorded. No machines or tunnels, but again as with an MRI you have to stay extremely still. Hope this helps,
Lyn
Thank you Julie, did it hurt?

Hi, firstly I must apologise for calling you Julie when you are Diana! Am most certainly having one of those days alright. Anyway, no, it didn’t hurt, its just a matter of trying to relax, easier said than done I know.
I had an Evoked Potential Test many years ago. I had electrodes on my head and they measured stuff as I looked at a computer screen. I remember feeling nauseated because the screen sort of reminded me of a psychedelic trip many people took in the late 60’s. (I was too young ~~ no such trips for me) and that there was sandy stuff throughout my head where they placed the electrodes, but no pain.
Sounds like they are trying to cover all bases!!
Blessings and best wishes as you wade through all of this!
Melodye
Thanks guys, so I guess they use that test to find where the TN comes from or maybe vertigo? I’m glad it does not hurt, I have a feeling it might trigger something.
Don’t worry about mistaking my name, LOL I have been called worse!
Thanks, Lyn and Melodye now I kind of know what to expect.
