Mvd/swelling 2 mos later

Wow almost felt like I was reading part of my I had mvd on oct 24 2014 . At first I was doing well them something slammed into me. I had jaw replacement surgery in February and June but had mild stroke in March. After mvd I had severe brain swelling and my left side went numb again. I was sent to rehab, the day I was transferred I felt something else was wrong and by the time I got to rehab I couldn’t pick up my head. It was 6 days before they transferred me back to hospital. The surgeon threw his hands in the air as he never had someone with “these complications” I was told I had meningitis then I didn’t then hmm maybe it is. Still did not treat. My headache became severe and could not sit up . A blood patch was attempted and instead I had high fluid. Another 10 days I had several spinal taps fluid drain upside down tests and finally a blood patch which relived the headache. I was then sent back to rehab. About 2 weeks into rehab I began to feel the middle trigeminal nerve come back to haunt me. Then the left side if my face began to swell I was actually sent to a dentist to see if it was a abscess and it was not. I spent another 3 weeks in rehAb and everyday my face would swell up. My pain is pretty bad odd the top side if my head has a small lump and is where most of pain is felt.

I went home not able to walk and with swelling on scar area and severe in face with no explanation. I wanted to be with my family for the holidays. I can’t control the pain and the swelling is so bad I have red lines in my cheeks like stretch marks. It is worse in morning and goes down during day a bit. My surgeon that did my jaw replacement thinks it could be lymphatic drain issues or infection. The surgeon nurse told me to go to Er and they will have to open and clean out site again and is a very long process. I would not go. My appointment is January 3rd.

Has anyone had so much swelling and fluid this far after surgery? I also have my left leg swelling but I do not feel it. I am worried to go back to this surgeon as he was not so nice when I had complication I was treated many residents that basically told me nothing was wrong. I’m pretty sure I don’t beat myself every night when I sleep to cause swelling. There is obviously something wrong. Please help me.

Cbec, if it were me I would go to ER. As you say, there is obviously something wrong!!
IF you’re not comfortable going back to your neurosurgeon, then I wouldn’t hesitate to go to ER. None of us are qualified to diagnosis or really comment on your situation, although I wish I knew!
I’m so sorry to read of your struggles and I hope by going to your local ER you’ll have access to professionals willing to help and figure this all out.
Sending positive thoughts, please update as things progress…
((((( hugs ))))) Mimi xx

Yes please go to ER!
