I had my surgery on Thursday 1/24/13 it was a 5 and half hour surgery. The first night I wondered if I mad a mistake due to how painful it was comming out of surgery into NICU. I was taken for a CT the next morning at 4a.m. I waited too long to ask for pain meds and when we got back to the room and had an in room chest xray I was in missery. I was alternating with morphine and diloted. They will not give you enough to knock you our due to the surgery. I had a terrible headach and nausea. They seemed to be more worried about my heart rate due to my SVT. they next day I was put into a step down unit about 2 pm. I had PT immediatly after comming out of NICu. I walked like I had a few too many. They wanted to keep me till today but was allowed to come home on lots of steroids. I have 13 stitches that look like a caterpillar behind my rigt ear. I ate ice cream, frozed yougurt, and partiealy frozen juice praise God I have not been able to do that for about a year. I believe this is working. Will answer all questions later. I did have 2 ivs in one arm and they had to put an artierial line in my foot after many tries in my arm. thanks for everything!

Remember to take it easy. My MVD was Dec. 21 and I still need a rest every day. I wish you a smooth and successful recovery.

Take good care, as Mimik mentions, rest and go easy. I too wish you a smooth recovery!
(( hugs )) Mimi

Thank you all!

Today is 4 weeks post op. I have headachs everyday if I dont rest like I should. Today was a VERY BAD HEADAch. I am ready for energy!!! I dont have any

I am at 2 months post op today and still have an occasional slight headache. Nothing like the ones that I had originally. I was very concerned about the headaches at 3 weeks but my surgeon’s nurse told me that some people have them longer then others. By 6 weeks the bad ones were gone and now I do not even need tylenol as the headaches have a short duration.

As for the energy, I still require an occasional nap in the afternoon. I am 68 so I try not to be too concerned and simply remind myself that the pain is gone and that is most important.

I hope you feel better soon.

thanks for the info! I feel better today!
