MVD Experience for Others - 2 months post op!

As a reminder I had my MVD 11/28 and the surgeon cut and cauterized four veins that were looped or compressing the nerve. Sometimes it's hard to imagine it's already been two months. Other times I feel like, two months - when is the numbness going to go away. Having said that the tingling in the chin is very gradually getting less and I don't have much numbness in the cheek anymore. I very occasionally get a headache in the left eye so that's improved tremendously also.

I still have significant numbness on the ear and along the temple on the surgery side. I had my first business trip and had lots of discomfort when we landed the pain - the pressure in the ear was so great and it took some time for it to pop. Even though it popped several times, I noticed difficulty hearing in that ear. I may need to see an ENT because it's just not normal and I'm not sure if all the fluid has drained. Even though I don't have a lot of pain, I wonder if the numbness prevents me from feeling it? The tongue still burns on occasion but I haven't figured out why. Before the surgery the neurologist and surgeon both indicated that is more Type II pain than Type I.

All in all I'm feeling much better, mostly pain free and actually have energy to exercise and play with my Grandkids again! Talk to you next month.

Debbie

Congratulations, it sounds as though you are on the road to recovery. My surgery was 12/21 and I am so much better. I too am happy to be smiling with my grandchildren.

My surgery was 4/2012 still sometimes feel numbness on my nose and small pinches in my head…but all in all I feel good…my problem was the same as yours and the electrical shocks where in my forehead…God help us …

I too had my MVD in Nov. 2012. Like you I am feeling much much better. Energy and pain is slowly going away. My issues post MVD were crazy sensitive teeth and toungue. Settling down just this week. Like you life is getting back to normal, two weeks at work now, skiing again and just being and feeling myself. House full of family for family day weekend (in Ontario) and can't wait.

Keep on recovering!!
