Hi all, I have been a TN sufferer for 3 years now. Have been taking Carbamazepine for the TN and have been free of severe pain for the most part. Side effects from the drug has been my major issue. I want my old self back ( if that’s possible ) so have scheduled my MVD for 3weeks from now. My wife and I met with several Neurosurgeons before we met the one we both feel confident in. I have severe sleep apnea and wear a CPAP nightly, has anyone had experience with CPAP mask after MVD? Seems like the straps will be riding over the scar and not sure if any options exist. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
Pad the strap with wool or mole skin at the point where goes over the incision. I found that helped some.
Thanks for the reply and work around. Did you have the MVD? How was it and was it effective? I’m a little nervous but the side affects from Carbamazepine have become too much for me and my loved ones to handle.
Please speak to your doctor about the use of cpap machine after brain surgery. I read it should not be used after a brain /cranial surgery for a period of time…not sure why or length of time, just double check please!
Bob, lots of really useful information in the MVD group here. Check it out!

Hi Bob,
I had successful MVD surgery in 2012 and use a CPAP device. No issues whatsoever.
Good luck with your MVD, I too took Carbamazepine and the side effects gradually became intolerable. MVD gives you the best chance, imho, to fix the issue. Any questions or if I can help with any insight, please let me know.
Best of luck
Rick
