Medication to overcome fatigue?

Hi,

I blame this on the weather when one week we get tropical temperatures and then the next it feels like December but my usually moderate ATN pain has increased badly recently and is now on both sides of my face:(

After being meds-free for 5 months I have now tried to go back on Lyrica and a combination of Tramadol/Paracetamol. I was so sick with a headache, stomach pain and confusion for nearly two days that I stopped the Lyrica immediately and I only take Tramadol/Paracetamol when the pain gets too much and I need to function (at work etc.). I'm back on antidepressants (Cipralex). I'm booked to see my neurologist next week and am going to ask her to refer me to a pain management center.

The thing is - apart from a full time job I must finish my university this Autumn, which effectively means I need to start study now! I have no clue how I'm going to do that when I find it hard to get up and drag myself to work and back every day, and I spend my weekeneds sleeping. I think it's the constant pain that has finally worn me down. Is there anything that has helped you to overcome fatique and slugishness? As much as I try to keep my meds to the minimal dosage possible, I'd be happy to ask my neuro for a medication that would enable me to concentrate and think clearly for a while....any tips are very welcome.

Thank you,

Oli

Yes! I asked neuro for lidocaine patches to lower the pain and the meds…AND asked for a couple months of Ritalin, med for attention deficit disorder…so I could focus and have energy…he prescribes many of his patients this…short term…I only took as needed to make them last…also in college I consumed much b-12 vitamins for energy boosts…and it’s a nerve healthy vitamin!

Thank you! I'm sure I can get the Ritalin, lidocaine patches may be a problem to get in my country. I'll definitely start back on B12 vitamins. Thanks again:)

PS

you may be able to get lidocaine cream.... OR EMLA cream like in Canada is over the counter - but our lidocaine here is prescription cream - go figure

and

here in US....we have B12 that is cherry flavored and sublingual....to put under tongue and dissolves and works faster than standard capsules!

Hi Oldriska, I have pretty bad sleep apnea and as a result my sleep clinic has prescribed Neuvigil which I take every once in a while, it helps when I do take it, but just for a while. Good luck finishing your degree.
