Many different types of pain?

For me I have experience so many different types of pain.....just when I think the last pain I went through was the worst, well it wasn't......the one I have now I never had before and it is scary, it's the pain where you think it might be dental related, but I keep telling myself no and I don't want to go to the dentist just yet and make a complete fool out of myself where he tells me no its not your teeth (my dentist was the one that accually sugested I might have TN to begin with) so I am trying to wait this pain out.

I just had an appointment at my pain management dr Dec 3 and told him I had some pain almost nothing worth mentioning and a week or so after seeing him I started with this....he upped my meds from 45mg of Baclofen to 50 a day plus I am also talking Lyrica and Dilantin and a 5mg pill for stress that I thought I might need to keep my BP down so my blood vessels wouldn't expand and trigger my nerves to set off pain...blah, blah, blah.

The pain I have now is so excruciating and strong after it subsides or leaves, you can still feel how sore your gums are, sometimes I can take my tongue and touch that area while not in pain and it will then bring it on.....I can talk for about two minutes or eat for a minute and it will start, it leave you exhusted.....the way the pain starts and you know it's coming big time is your face feels like a sonic machine (like the one you use for cleaning jewelry) and it keeps building....this has been going on for days....some of the pains I had before I haven't had again...just curious if anyone else goes through with this.

I don't think my pain has been as intense as yours, but pain around my teeth and gums was one of the first "headache pains" I experienced. I kept asking my dentists if they were SURE there was nothing wrong with my teeth. I found that heat help some...when I could stand to have anything touch that side of my face. I have also heard that capcacin ointment might help, but I keep forgetting to buy it. Sometimes I pull a hoodie up over my head to retain heat because it seems that being cold makes it worse....as does being too hot. Being too cold is a bit easier to deal with, though. I think it might be wise to talk to your pain management specialist, though. I would also try to make sure that your nighttime pain is under control as best you can. It could make it worse if you are clenching your teeth because you are in pain, assuming you get any sort of night time pain. I pray you find some relief, Marcy. It must be exhausting.

Thank you for your reply .....I know others must suffer more, I will try and suck it up and try and find a happy place in my head when the next one hits.....thanks again and take care.

Yes, yes, YES! I have experienced this and I definitely understand. It is horrible and something I'm trying to learn to live with as it seems to have become my new "norm." I too am trying to battle it with medication and have recently added a lidocaine mouthwash, as recommended by my pain management doctor. I doesn't take away all of the pain but it does take the edge off some of the pain on the surface of my gums. :(

Lidocaine mouthwash! I keep forgetting to ask for that. Over and over people tell me, and still I forget. Hope you feel better, Marcy, Gin. And don't just suck it up. What does it matter how much worse someone in a far off place is. Your pain is yours.
