Looking for Moderators: Who Comes to Mind?

Can you think of someone who would make a great moderator here on your Ben’s Friends community? You perhaps? Or maybe someone else on this forum who is understanding and supportive of others? This is a great time to give back to your Ben’s Friends community while staying safe, and staying home.

What does a Ben’s Friends Moderator do? Simply put, they do what they can to make the community a good place to be. They participate in conversation, and they encourage others to participate as well. They are watchful, so that the community stays supportive and safe for everyone.

Don’t know how to be a moderator? No worries! Ben’s now has self-paced online training at Ben’s Friends U to help you develop the skills. Learn something new while you’re locked up! (We’d love to tour you around Ben’s Friends U virtual campus, but security is too tight there.)

Time commitments a problem? We have volunteer moderators who put in an hour or so a week, while others spend more time than that. And remember, this is volunteer work that you can do anywhere you have a computer or a smart phone and internet access.

As you know, we also have Moderator Support, a team of dedicated people who are always there for you, and who are happy to pitch in whenever Moderators need a hand.

We’d love to have you join the “Mods”. If you’re thinking, “Maybe…” have a look at this additional information sheet. Ask your community moderator, or click on ModSupport avatar on this site to send us a message. Clicking on the “About/Contact” tab just below the banner will also allow you to send messages directly to those people.

This thread is open for discussion as well, if you have questions or comments that others may be interested in.

Your Moderator Support Team (“ModSupport”)

Hi Ben,
Just read this. I would honored to be a moderator for ATN (aka TN2). Have had it for almost 10 years. Age 72, MBA in Finance University of Connecticut, worked as a Chief Compliance Officer 20+ years in NYC for a major Securities
firm. Retired now 20 years in Las Vegas, NV. Larry2

Hi Larry2

Larry, that would be great! I will email you with some general information, and then you can let me know what you are thinking.

You’ve worked with lots of people all your life, and it’s nice to continue to be engaged with people in retirement. I’m a retired teacher, and being involved here satisfies a yearning that I have for meaningful contact with others.

I’ll get your email address from your membership, and contact you off the community.

All the best to you: we’ll talk soon.
