Living between the TN

My favorite time
Is in the early morning,
when I awake slowly,
with my eyes still closed in a meditative moment,
the lingering peacefulness,
a lagging effect from when the pain turns off at night,
still pain free for a short time,
but aware, in the dark,

maybe neurologists will study this effect one day,
research how the unconsciousness of sleep
shuts off the pain signal
and extrapolate a treatment to the waking state,
when I will wake, and smile
and let the warm shower water stream down my face

I have written poetry all of my life, Carl, so I appreciate that someone put the nature of the “morning break”, which a lot of us get into words. Mine sometimes lasts one blessed hour. This is beautifully bittersweet. Thank you for posting.

This is so beautiful. Thank you . I too wake up and listen to the silence, live in the moment of peace, pain free. It is over too soon
