Leaning head to side=feels like passing out?!

Ok, so I understand that I have a few different neuralgia types but recently I was holding the phone between my left ear, the affected side, and shoulder (I know- not good posture!) and within a minute my vision in my left eye started blackening out and my hearing went dim as well as skull feeling tingly. My neck and behind that ear have been extremely sensitive and I have had increasing chest pain. My new cardiologist said my heart is healthy and so is my carotid artery. Just curious if anyone has had the passing out sensation from over extending the muscles on their affected side? It scared me quite a bit!

Sorry I don’t have any answers to this, do you take Neurontin/Gabapentin? Many members report a “fairground” effect from it and I certainly was totally unable to do many head movements without swimming.

Several of the TN medications cause issues with balance or equilibrium. Chest pain, however, would likely be something else, especially if you have had instances of vision and hearing loss.

I would recommend that you talk with your neurologist about having a second MRA series done on your carotid arteries, to verify that there are no blockages, and perhaps a full brain scan MRI and EKG to verify that there are no arterio-vascular malformations or aneurisms. You should also be evaluated for TIA (light stroke) There is something not right here, and it is in your best interests to assess carefully what its significance may be.

My pain is often tied to my posture and position. Basically the majority of the time, TN is caused by pressure on the nerve that has rubbed the protective sheath off the nerve. If you move your head around you can easily cause that pressure to come and go. When I'm going to the chiropractor regularly and keeping everything in place and relaxed I have far less pain than when I'm not.

I hope that helps.
