Lamotrigine any one on these? are they working for you?

I was prescribed tegretol but suffered a lot with side effects so my doc changed mr to these lamotrigine. They don't seem to be doing much as of yet?! Problem is my attacks are at their worse at the moment and finding it hard to cope. Any one else these drugs?

Sorry bad typos fighting with predictive text!

Usually what is tried next is lyrica or neurontin -- Does your doc have many TN patients???

Call them asap to get some topical lidocaine patches or cream to put ON your face - relief for many while meds take effect

You cannot go up fast at all on lamictal - so I hope your doc has taken slow time with this!

Thank you for your advice, I’ve just moved house so brand new doc. And it was an emergency appointment . My dose is 2 tablets for 3 days then 3 tablets then after. Can you by pass ur doctor and see the neurologist?

Depends on insurance --I did -- I did not have to have referral.

but your gp can get you the lidocaine before neuro appt. sometimes takes a while to get apt with good one --- look under doctors tab here - and see if there is somebody on that list that is local to you

when shopping for neuro -- if they have more than 20 patients with TN (We are rare) -- it would be a good start

Keep Posting!

I have been on lamotrigine for the past 3 years. It is the only antiseizure med that does not put me a mental fog (and i have tried them all). it works as well for me as neurontin did wthout the stupor! however, my atn has gotten worse with time so I have supplement with vicodin 2-3 times a day for th past year.

Mary~ I read your post about the compounded cream. Is it still helping? Can you give me more specifics on what is in it and the amounts?

thanks
