Just wondering

hiya
i’m really new with this, i had never heard of TN till a couple of days ago and i had suffered for a very long time, in which my entire life was destroyed. i lost everything including my mental health, why don"t more people know about this, i have went to countless doctors and shrinks, not one ever mention it. for years i was told it was all in my head, i had no support (even from family and friends) and due to that i was in a very bad place for the longest time. but i came on holiday to Chicago, and within fours days i was diagnosed. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS aka doctors, IF THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS WHY DON"T THE KNOW ABOUT THIS!!

Hi Jemima,

I am also newly diagnosed though thank goodness quite quickly. I had a tooth extracted before my dentist realised I has TN. I can’t imagine what you have gone through.

I consider myself very fortunate. When I read stories like yours it makes me so angry. Nobody should have to suffer like you before they are diagnosed.

Dentists and Doctors need to be made more aware of TN. So many of them seem clueless. Even though it is a rare illness it is something they need to consider if a patient comes to see them with our symptoms. I know my dentist will consider it now before he carries out any extractions.

Kind Regards, Jo X x
