Just had a wisdom tooth pulled

I was diagnosed with TN 14 years ago so I never really liked to go to the dentist. I have been in a lot of pain this last month. I started to get better. Sunday I used some mouth wash before bed. I think I cleaned something out of my wisdom tooth. When I woke Monday I started to get bad. It just got worse till I was in the ER again. It felt like it was mostly coming from my wisdom tooth. I told them that in the ER and they said I had gingervitis and to brush. After I held my self back from smacking him I left.

I went to the dentist this morning. I almost passed out in the waiting room. They finally gave me a ice pack. They took a ex-ray and said I had a abseted wisdom tooth but they didn't take them out their. I had to drive an hour away and wait for them to get me in. The doctor and nurse were awesome. They knew all about TN. He took one look at the ex-ray and said that is why you have been in so much pain. Since it was an emergency the had to just numb the area and pull the tooth. I didn't feel a thing. So far no nerve pain. Jaw is sore but I can deal with that any day.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well, considering you have TN combined with having had a wisdom tooth extracted. I hope it heals well and doesn't give you anymore trouble. Keep us posted. :)

David Great to know you got that problem sorted. I know you said you have had this condition for 14 years yet you only have occasional flare ups, is this because you have had MVD surgery? Do you take medication in between your attacks?

Do you think your pain this month was due to the abscess or was it also TN? Would be fantastic if it was just the abscess giving you all the pain

I am happy to hear that you are not in pain, from TN! I have had TN for 9 years and like you, I have not gone to the dentist much. I have been having flare-ups for a while though and felt my wisdom teeth coming in. I am having all 4 pulled on the 28th. I am going into the procedure very pro-active and probably will have a lot of meds on board, but hoping and wondering if this will help calm the pain down.
