Just getting started here

I was going to write about my TN history and the things I've done and tried so far etc. But right now by brain is quite foggy and I think I'll wait a while.

I've taken two doses (two days) of gabapentin 300 mg and am slowly coming off baclofen as it was ineffective. The combination of the two drugs in my system right now (40 mg a day of baclofen, and 300 mg a day of gabapentin) is making my thinking rather muzzy and I'm sort of dizzy as well. Both the pharmacist and my MD say this should pass as my body gets used to the gabapentin and I keep cutting down the baclofen. I sure hope so.

wondering how you are doing on the gabapentin? I am sort of new to the medication and TN in general, and Im having a horrible time with the med. I started at 300 mg a day, and when I bumped up to 600 mg a day, my stomach (irritable bowel) was not happy, and I'm so foggy and tired. So today, I talked to my neurologist, and he gave me 100 mg capsules, so I can take the 100 mg and increase by 100 mg as I feel I can, instead of the 300 mg. I'm hoping I can tolerate that. I do have a pretty sensitive stomach and the anxiety of TN has really done a number on my tummy anyway. Just wondering how you are making out!

I have had no stomach problems with the gabapentin and now that I'm off the baclofen my head is much clearer although I still find myself searching for what I was going to say quite a lot (more than before the medication). I am now at 2 300 mg capsules 3 times a day and no stomach problems, also no relief at all from the TN pain. I'm sorry you're having tummy trouble it is so discouraging but keep going up slowly and hopefully you'll get some relief.

I also find that looking at my history (I keep a calendar and write when I have my migraine headaches) that I had far fewer headaches when I was on the baclofen. Interesting and possibly worth pursuing with my MD even though I don't WANT to be on baclofen too. So far no relief at all for the TN with any of the meds I've tried.

just started the gabapentin (is this the same drug as neurotin?) yesterday. I take 100 mg in the am and 100 mg in pm ...then i think i start increasing it next week? Also i take percocet at the first inkling of face pain.

Gabapentin is the generic form of Neurontin. So yes, it's the same makeup. I have been doing the same with the Percocet and it seems to work pretty well.

Do you experience any side effects from the drugs?
