Last April, I had the MVD surgery. I woke from the surgery with NO pain! I have been pain free since.
Now my insurance is refusing to pay my DR bills. They paid a portion of the hospital and anestiasia, but even though my neurologist, in network, referred me to this neurosurgeon, the ins company claims that my surgery was ‘elective’.
I wanted to stand before the letter writer and scream. Freeing me after 6 years of excruciating pain doesn’t seem to be anything I might want for cosmetic reasons, or something I could control. For that matter, paying for pregnancy care and delivery if a baby could also be considered ‘elective’. A woman “chooses” to have a baby. I now have a $247,000.00 doctor bill. But living without the pain is so good!
Anyone else in this predicament?
You may need to consult with an attorney.

Blue cross paid the bills, but cant get life insurance…even now no pain!
Cannot win!
If you haven’t already done so, appeal the denial with your insurance company. Make your surgeon aware of the situation as well, as they maybe able to help, with the appeal process.
I was in a similar situation with a surgery I had years ago, and the appeal process worked for me.
Best of luck!
