I had my first attack (on and off through out the day for 5 days) back in May this year. I am living in fear of it happening again, how long was it before you had your second attack?
Elstep, there is no one answer for your question. Length of spontaneous remissions is variable between individuals. HIGHLY variable. Some people don't have them at all. Others may have a year or more in the first remission. Now way to tell which you are or where in between.
Sorry I couldn't give you more info here. But there are no rules of thumb.

My first attack was in 1997…I didn’t have another attack until 2008…I am currently in the midst of my third…everything I’ve read says that this is a progressive disease that will over time occur more frequently, and be more severe. I can say I have had sporadic pains during that ten-year gap as well as during the past three years. In fact, over the last year I have had at least one pain, or spasm as I call them, a week before the full-blown re-occurrence started last week.
