Ideas for spreading word about TN

i saw a blog post about ideas for spreading the word about this blog site, but was wondering if anyone is doing anything about spreading the word about TN in general? i belong to a facebook group that discusses spreading the word about TN because so many people, including neurologists don’t know about TN, and so many people who I meat who ask me about my illness have never heard of TN. The only ones who have are either nurses or are married to them.

Anyway, i posted a couple of questions on there and no one has responded. Does anyone know if there are people who are doing anything about that now? One of my ideas was to get it written into a script for the new TV show HawthoRNe. I thought that is a perfect medium for it. I alwasy thought of House, but it’s too common for House, I think.

So many more people watch primtime tV than want to read up on it, yunno?

how does one go about getting something like THAT to happen? ugh. lol

I am not sure that it is too common for House - go for it!!! I am too wary of putting my TN “out there” - I guess I don’t want poeple to judge me by it (and I secretly hope it is just toothache - STILL - lol) - so I haven’t gone on the Facebook site.

I am on facebook but haven’t been on the site lately. I don’t watch House so I don’t know about that. What about Grey’s Anatomy??? That is one of the number one shows out there right now. Hawthorne might me good, I haven’t seen it yet either. Or even Private Practice?? I lost my job b/c of my disease. I had too many absences due to migraines. The migraines were a direct link to my TN. My employer did not renew my contract for next year’s teaching term due to frequent absences and a couple reasons. But I was coming into a continuing contract and I would have had tenure and I know they were scared that I could have become disabled. I strongly feel that more information needs to be out there.

hi ro. i saw that one before, thanks! i just thought it was was to get more people to spread the word AbOUT living with TN (the site), not the actual living with actual TN. lol

Thanks!

Hi Lena. Sorry you lost your job right before tenure. Low blow. I lost my job too. :frowning: I have not seen Private Practice or Grey’s Anatomy. Do those shows deal with these types of pain issues at all? That’ why I thought Hawthorne might be good. They don’t always deal with mystericous illnesses like House does. TN isn’t mysterious to someone like House. So, Hawthorne deals with people coming in to the ER. People go into an ER with sever pain in their face, thik it’s a toothache, but it gets worse or whatever. Someone could realize it’s TN and make the word get out there about it.

Just not sure how to go about talking to those working on the show and getting it into a script.

haha! it DOES sound like that doesn’t it. now that i read it again, i’m really glad that you understood what i meant, cuz it was hard to make my point. lol
