I am still very confused

I have been diagnosed w/ TN by 2 doctors. The ER doctor sent me to my family doctor to get a referel to a neurologist. I went to my family doctor and he put me on Prednisone and told me I slept on my face wrong? The pain in unbearable and I have a hard time believeing I slept on my face wrong, because it has switched sides of my face. Any thoughts?

Greetings Pnutmanda,

I would get another doctor fast! Your doctor either doesn't know about TN or takes it seriously. I think your doctor should at least get a diagnoses from a neurologist that has worked with TN. It would be the responsible thing to do. I don't believe your family doctor has your best interest in mind in this case.

Send a comment to Red Lawhern for his opinion. This sounds a bit off to me. The pain can switch or alternate, I have read that many times here. There is a myth that if you present with bilateral pain it is not TN, well that may be the case for the misdiagnosed, however you can have TN on both sides or it can swap over.

Yes get another doctor quick -- or just ask for the referal = thank you very much!

WOW

If I had a dollar for everything doctors do NOT know about TN !!!!!

See if you can get a topical prescription cream or patch like Lidocaine -- helped me MUCH between meds.

Wow! You need to kick that doctors booty to the curb. Why is he giving you something that surpressive your immune system instead of something that deals with this type of pain? Red would be your best bet on answering this for you. I’m sorry and I hope you get the help you need ASAP.

After 4 days of pretty excruciating pain, I have almost none today. I don’t know if it is working. Or if my episode is just over? I have no idea when or if this will ever happen again? How often do you guys get episodes?

I think the cycles run like seizures --- NO rhyme or reason. Stress can bring on attacks - attacks bring on stress. If it is true TN it is here to stay--we only go into remission
