I have read all the comments and it got me thinking of how a ribbon might look. It's a rough draft but might be something to work off of. I like kc dancers kc idea of the stippled three colors, but haven't figured out away to put it in yet, maybe a border. Anyway I had fun playing with the design and might give someone else an idea to run with. I envisioned it as a lapel ribbon as well as a ribbon for the back of cars etc.

I like the idea but you have to be careful of where any money goes for ribbons. I heard that none of the money for the pink ribbons for breast cancer goes to cancer research. Though I think it does raise awareness. But someone's getting rich off of it.

Kc,

I am glad you like it! I would be happy to send it to Red but am not sure how to do that. If you can tell me how I will send it.

Scott

Color Meanings for Striped and
Multi Color Awareness Ribbons

Awareness ribbons are short pieces of ribbon folded into a loop, or representations of such, which are used in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK and other parts of the world as a way for wearers of the ribbon(s) to make a statement of support for a cause or social issue.

Awareness ribbons are a way to give support and bring public attention to a specific “cause”; an emblem that expresses empathy; a symbol that serves awareness to health issues; they signal concern for others and show optimism in “hope for a cure”.

I had emailed Red and Jackie asking them about getting a ribbon and how we go about doing that. He is not sure but I think he will look further into it. He also copied a link to another discussion about this topic. I think it would be great to create more awareness. Maybe if we create more awareness then more research studies can be started and lead to better treatments and possibly a cure!

I have contacted a member of the Board of the TN Assoc. - sent an email to see where to go with this - they got the resources!

I love everyones ideas. Would a progessive color ribbon be an idea? I thought red (at the bottom) > yellow > green > blue (in the center for the ‘good’ days) < green < yellow < red (at the top).

After reviewing all the ribbon colors and their meanings I do not see a black ribbon. Black for the darkness I see when I close my eyes when in extreme pain.

Gray Ribbon: Allergies, Asthma, Brain Cancer/Brain Tumors, Diabetes

This thread is over a year old!

I think if you google image - ribbon awareness -- you will see they are 98% solid -- that does nothing for us - we have to stand out because we are so small. To get awareness and research dollars, we need to be rare - just as we are rare

I love Scott's prototype here - but making the lightning go down one side of the ribbon and the flames go down the other side of the ribbon (instead of top and bottom)

- with the "Scream" at the top - and Ask Me About TN is genious!

The lightning is for shocks for type I - and the fire is for the burning feeling of ATN

I think we should run with it through the TN Association Board

Sounds fantastic. Scott incorporated all suggestions perfectly. I hope this will be approved.

I've reached Dr. Casey on the medical board - and will be forwarding it soon!

I don't know anything about ribbons - do you sell them, donate them? Do what with the profits? Research - help fund surgeries?

Any advice?

KC,
Im not sure but I have a friend who started the ARDS ( acute respiratory distress syndrome) foundation many years ago, my father had it so I became familiar with it and her support group. I will ask her if she knows or has any tips for us.
We would sell them …Any monies made would go to research would be my assumption and hope.
I’ll check into it.
KC can you look into the TN association/board ?
Let’s get this ball rolling!!

In terms of colors and such I would imagine just a solid color would be cheaper to make/purchase and that’s why so many are that way.

There have been two ribbons designed and posted on our sit I like the one with the stormy sky and lightning bolts. We could also make tshirts and other items as well. I would love if we could split up the profits between research and helping those who can not afford treatment. We could put it towards their meds, surgery, or any other treatment they need help with. Please let me know if there is anything I can so to help.

I'd be happy to have a TN Ribbon made, it would be awesome!

In the past, we made a ribbon for AVM and a Bracelet. I think you can find them here: http://www.avmsurvivors.org/gifts/item/list?to=23n4sv1jphwn1&xg_source=bemb

If you give me a description of what you want, I'll have it made!

Any news on the ribbon? Looking into getting a tattoo…since TN will be with me forever even though i cant stand it…

I sent both designs to the top guy at TN Assoc. -- Waiting to hear back!

Scots ribbon picture made me flinch hahah i think people with pain can identify with those images !!!

Does this site have any kind of art gallery section...that could be so great..art is such a good way to express what words cant :)
