It used to be that you got a head cold or a sinus infection, you take your meds and deal with your day. Now with this TN thing, I wake up with a head cold and it is here to totally ruin my day! I try and get dressed for work and I feel that pain that I cannot work with, and still I try. I hear my TN telling me to "just give up, I own you today!!" It is so much worse. I have to keep my pie hole shut when I hear other ppl who say they "feel crappy today". If they knew what feeling crappy felt like in my world. But then again I was one of them not so long ago. I am mean when I hurt. I try to keep it in like the good girl my mom raised. I hope this passes soon. I just had this mess 2 weeks ago. Uhggggg.
Jess, what medications are you on and at what doses? A head cold can complicate TN breakthrough pain, particularly Type 2 -- but it shouldn't be as severe as you seem to be going through.
I understand totally where you are coming from on this mean when you hurt and everyone needs to shut up. I use to try and not give in to the pain either cause it isn't going to rule me. I have now filled out papers for a intermintent leave of absense. This is a leave of absense for my TN and if it is one day or a half day what ever it may be it is not counted against me at work. With this I am able to stay home and just mellow out and relax and the pain gives up sooner. I wish I hadn't been so bull headed on this and done it sooner I have less aweful days now. Hope you find something that works for you. Dee
I take 200 mg of Tegretol 2x a day and 20 mg of Celexa once a day. I have been taking it on time and I have pain every day. Only a 4 on a scale of 1-10. Since yesterday I have been getting sick with this cold and now my pain is up to an 8 or so. It is painful like that just about all day til I fall asleep. When I get up its with a headache, and the headache will go away within an hour and I go into facial and tooth pain by the time I try to leave for work. I am sitting here with it now and can't touch my cheek nor can I drink anything cold or hot. My temple feels like a knife keeps getting stabbed in it. Then there is the annoyances of the cold. Just yuck.

I do believe that stress plays a part in this condition. My neuro says it doesn't, but I can't believe that. I find I can have alot more days with out pain if I am not stressed. My job does not cause me stress (thank the heavens), but life in general can. I would like to just yield to the pain on some days, but I also have 5 kids that require my attention. Yielding to the pain and just relaxing sounds sooooo good. What you did also sounds like a good move. We are blessed to have jobs that will accept our days we are not at our best. Lots of luck for painless days.

I feel your pain. I have a head cold or allergies since LAST Thursday, so I am on day 9 with this. I cough so hard sometimes and now I am starting to have some breakthrough pains because of it. UGH!
